A luxury phinisi carries fewer guests in more space, gives each couple an air-conditioned ensuite cabin, and adds a proper sun deck, a full crew, and a cook who plates rather than serves buffet-style. Semi-luxury boats sit one notch below: still AC cabins and private bathrooms, but a slightly larger group and simpler finishes.
Both classes run the same headline route through Komodo National Park. The difference you pay for is density, privacy, and polish, not the islands themselves. As of 2026, the more luxurious the boat and the higher the cabin class, the higher the shared per-person fare climbs.
How much does a luxury Komodo boat trip cost by boat class and duration?
Two ways to buy. Shared open trip means you book a cabin and share the boat with other couples and small groups. Private buyout means the whole boat is yours. What is not included: Komodo National Park fees
Park fees are almost always separate from the boat fare, usually charged at weekday rates, and commonly reimbursed in IDR cash on arrival. As of 2026, expect roughly:

How does booking a luxury Komodo charter work?
- Tell us the brief. Share your dates, group size, and comfort tier (semi-luxury or luxury phinisi), plus whether you want shared or private.
- Get matched boats. We send two or three vessels with real photos, cabin plans, safety-equipment confirmation, and a written quote, so you compare like for like.
- Pre-register passengers. Every passenger must submit a passport copy showing the photo page, plus full name, nationality, and passport number, to the boat host at least one day before departure. Passport details alone are no longer enough, and entry can be denied without this.
- Confirm with a deposit. You receive a written invoice; never book on price alone, and always keep that invoice.
- Board in Labuan Bajo. Reimburse park fees in IDR cash on arrival as the crew collects them, then cast off for the park, about one to two hours away by boat.
A note on the rules, because they protect your trip: as of a February 2026 regulation summary, the park caps visitors at 1,000 per day across every site, spots must be booked and paid in advance, all Komodo and Rinca treks must be led by a certified ranger, life jackets are worn during speedboat travel and rough seas, and snorkeling and diving stay in designated areas because currents are strong.
When should you go, and when do luxury boats pause?
The dry season, April to November, is the window: calm seas, sun, and the visibility that makes Manta Point and Pink Beach worth the trip. The rainy season, December to March, brings rougher water, and most multi-day boat trips pause from January to March, though one-day speedboats usually keep running.
